Une année 2025 bien remplie

A busy 2025

Marc-Antoine Lacasse

The year 2025 is drawing to a close. I would like to take a few minutes to thank you for your support in purchasing my products at the pop-up events in Limoilou and at the Grand Marché de Québec. My first clothing collection, entitled Émotions, exceeded my expectations. I was overwhelmed by the collection's success. I had to adapt quickly and find solutions to the minor problems I encountered this year. You were there for me when I announced that I would be present in person at events in my neighborhood.

As a young entrepreneur, my brand Laka Mark hasn't even celebrated its first anniversary yet at the time of writing. There's been a lot of learning and fine-tuning involved in understanding my tools (Shopify, renting a kiosk, developing products, building relationships with suppliers, etc.). The goal is to make your experience enjoyable whether I'm selling my products on the street or through my online store.

There are certain limitations that prevent me from offering more features, since I have to pay subscriptions to different sales platforms. As the community grows around my brand, I will gradually add features when selling in person and through my store in the coming years.

For this first experience, I had some truly enriching exchanges. Your comments and advice are helping me improve my products and the customer experience on my shop.

I would like to give a special mention to the Arseno company, which helped me develop the products in the Emotions collection. Your attentive listening and guidance transformed a bold project into a commercial success in 2025! I would also like to thank my colleagues for the publicity they generated through word-of-mouth and posters displayed in the staff room, as well as my parents, who assisted me at my events.

An important step has been taken.

On December 8, 2025, I registered my trademark "Laka Mark" with the Quebec Enterprise Register as a sole proprietorship. From the outside, nothing changes. This registration was necessary to comply with Quebec law, protect myself against legal action, and ensure transparency regarding my business activities with the Quebec government and with customers who purchase my products both in person and online.

In recent years, there has been a lot of fraud on the internet. With the creation of fake shops and fake social media accounts, I had to prove that I was indeed the legitimate owner of the brand.

You're wondering if I have to charge taxes. My sales are less than $30,000. I'm not required to charge you taxes. Taxes are included. For example, if a product costs $24, you will pay $24. The day my sales exceed $30,000, I must charge you taxes.

The upcoming challenges of 2026...

2026 will be a pivotal year, as it marks the first anniversary of my brand's creation. I'm working on an exciting project that I'll share with you on my official social media channels at the beginning of 2026. It's my way of thanking you for your support. My brand's mission will remain unchanged: to bring joy and share my colorful world with you.

I wish you all happy holidays and a happy new year 2026!
